In the following figure, we can see that the Kindle Fire is only a $199 content consumption tablet, which configurates a 7-inch display muti-touch screen, supporting for Wi-Fi network, but not supporting for 3G networks, sporting 8GB of storage, 1GHz dual-core processor, display resolution of 1024 x 600, weighing only 414 grams.
From point of view of the configuration and price, Kindle Fire’s strategy is to avoid the direct competition with iPad 2. This does not mean Kindle Fire will not be a strong competitor of iPad. Of course, as for specification, Nook Color specifications is closer to Kindle Fire, which is more likely to be quite a competitor to Kindle, so I put it into the chart to compare with together. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said the Kindle Fire’s great, excellent ecological environment and a high degree of customization of the Android system will shake the whole world.
In many configurations Kindle Fire is indeed not as good as iPad 2, but the low price is actually very attractive. Amazon’s all-new Kindle Fire will be released on November 15, 2011. Orders are prioritized on a first come, first served basis.
