iPad 3 Will Release With Retina Display – Confirmed 2048 x 1536 High Resolution

The release date for the iPad 3 is all but confirmed by Apple as many reports point towards a March 7th release date. One of the biggest rumors and discussion points for the iPad 3 release was the display. An examination of a display purportedly from an iPad 3 confirms that retina display resolution is on its way.

MacRumors reports that they were able to obtain an iPad 3 screen from its source. They took this display and examined it under a microscope. This was done to attempt to determine if the display was in fact a high resolution Retina Display. Physically the display of the iPad 3 is the same as the screen currently included in the iPad 2.
