Google’s Galaxy Nexus is shipping with Android Ice Cream Sandwich

On Monday, Google officially unleashed its Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. And now, Android 4.0 arrives as Galaxy Nexus goes on sale – the flagship ICS phone is finally making its debut and reaching customer’s hands. It went on sale today at Phones4U in the U.K and is expected to launch on Verizon Wireless within a matter of days. The phone–a dual-core model that retains the curved-glass look of Samsung’s earlier Nexus S phone–is a flagship device in a crowded Android market.

Specifications don’t matter anymore, we are told, but for those who might be interested, here are some: a super AMOLED 720p screen measuring 4.65 inches diagonally, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor; 1GB of memory; LTE or Pentaband HSPA+ wireless networking depending on the market where it’s being sold; a 5-megapixel camera with low-light shooting abilities and “zero shutter lag,” and supporting 1080p video; a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat; front and rear speakers; an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and barometer; and a 1750mAh battery. Unique 8.2-inch screen – Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition Revealed

On November 3, Motorola officially revealed two new the Series Tablet of Xoom2 in Europe. In addition to a common 10.1-inch tablet, it also comes with a “non-mainstream” 8.2-inch slate called Xoom 2 Media Edition.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition features a Gorilla glass Protection screen which can effectively scratch and possesses the anti-liquid Spillers function. It also promises a 20-percent improvement over the original Xoom in the graphics department, which, along with a 178 degree viewing angle make the tablet optimized for media consumption, as the name implies. And the built-in sound effects can enhance bass output and it features integrated remote control home appliances.

Like the Xoom 2, The Media Edition still measures up at 0.35 inches thick. and packs in the same 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Android 3.2, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage. It also offers up front and rear-facing cameras at 1.3 megapixel and five megapixel, respectively, plus Motorola’s new Splash-guard protection. Both the two tablets are looking to appeal to business types, with QuickOffice, Evernote and Twonky (that means DLNA-compatible streaming) all pre-installed. Fortunately, Motorola has already announced that yes, like the new-released Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the two new Xooms can both expect a lick of Ice Cream Sandwich(Android 4.0) update some time after launch.

Both the Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition are set to launch in the UK and Ireland later this month. The Media Edition is priced up at £329.99.

“Superman” Heart – Asus Transformer Prime Tablet PC Official Exposure

At AsiaD conference held in Hong Kong, ASUS head honcho Jonney Shih officially announced the release of next generation of NVIDIA Tegra “Kal-El” (Superman) quad-core SoC Tablet PC, officially named Transformer Prime. And like its predecessor Eee Pad Transformer, Transformer Prime also has a functionality of dock extension (Dock Station), which is used for external keyboard.

Overall design, the style of ASUS Transformer Prime is very similar with their own Zenbook UX series ultra-pole, except the use of “Kal-El” SoC. It also has mini-HDMI port, 10.1-inch IPS touch screen and the whole thickness is about 8.3mm.

The official unveil for the new Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet isn’t expected to happen until November 9th, but the OS the Android tablet will launch with has all but been confirmed by Asus Germany. In a Facebook photos update the Asus Germany staff have revealed that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable, that clarification means the Prime tablet will launch with Android 3.x Honeycomb.
