According to reports, the world’s most valuable technology company is looking to release the iPad Mini in a bid to fend off stiff competition from rivals Amazon, who successfully entered the tablet fray last year with the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Apple will hold two events this fall: one for the iPhone 5 in September and then another one for the iPad Mini in October, AllThingsD first reported over the weekend. ABC News’ own sources have corroborated the widely cited report of Apple’s plans to hold two events.

Apple TV 3 (2012) Review – Eat 1080p Movie (Blu-ray Rips) with Dolby Digital 5.1

Externally, the Apple TV 3 (1080p 3rd-Gen Apple TV) is virtually indistinguishable from the Apple TV 2nd generation. The real change again is that the Apple TV 3 now supports 1080p50 and 1080p60 over HDMI, where the previous Apple TV 2 only supported 720p50 and 720p60 at maximum over HDMI. The new Apple TV gives you access to HD movies and TV shows from iTunes and the entire Netflix streaming catalog. The release date for the iPad 3 is all but confirmed by Apple as many reports point towards a March 7th release date. One of the biggest rumors and discussion points for the iPad 3 release was the display. An examination of a display purportedly from an iPad 3 confirms that retina display resolution is on its way.

MacRumors reports that they were able to obtain an iPad 3 screen from its source. They took this display and examined it under a microscope. This was done to attempt to determine if the display was in fact a high resolution Retina Display. Physically the display of the iPad 3 is the same as the screen currently included in the iPad 2. I belong to TiVo and I have recorded lots of TV shows and movies on my TiVo Box, what i want to do is transfer some of these recording files to my iPad 2 for enjoying on my flight. However, the TiVo videos can’t be played on iPad 2, then how can enjoy these files on my iPad 2?

As far as I know, the best way to watch TiVo videos on iPad 2 is to convert TiVo recordings to iPad compatible video formats e.g. H.264 mp4. The Apple iPad 2 is a great tablet for all sorts of tasks, but one area that it only supports limited video formats. Apple has provided a “Supported TV and Video Types on iPad” sheet to detail playable video and audio formats for iPad(2). And you can see TiVo is not there. However, this doesn’t mean we can’t put TiVo TV shows to iPad 2. We just need get some help from third-party software.

iOS 5 1080p Review: iPhone4 support 1080p playback and iPhone5 support for 1080p shooting

As we know, when apple just released iPad 2, iPad2 can’t smoothly playback 1080p video . And even iTunes does not recognize video files higher than the 720p. Now it appears that this is entirely Apple’s software restrictions.  For further testing about the latest iOS 5, we found that not only iPad2 on iOS 5 get the capability of 1080p playback, even the iPhone4 and first-generation iPad with previous A4 processors can get flawlessly playback of 1080p video.

To be more amazing, the developers have found that Apple has provided an open API in iOS 5. This will support 1080p video output,processing and provide real-time video capture and playback during video clips. This means the fifth-generation iPhone will sport 8 megapixel camera to support 1080p video shooting.

Currently there are four Devices of Apple which support 1080p video playback smoothly: iPhone 4, iPod Touch4, iPad and iPad 2. Thus the long-term speculation has been confirmed that Apple intentionally add the software limits to the performance of iOS devices to make some room for the future’s upgrades. But for iPhone4 users who owns more than a year, isn’t it a bit cruel without capability of 1080p playback?
